Maeva Gauthier

MAEVA GAUTHIER, CO-FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:

Maeva is a marine ecologist, filmmaker and explorer passionate about connecting people to nature, using education and filmmaking as tools. Featured on CBC as top young changemakers in the country with Fish Eye team in 2017,  she completed a M.Sc. in marine biology (University of Victoria, 2012) and an Environmental Education and Communication graduate degree (2015). Her projects have been focused in ocean sciences, outreach and environmental education. Working for government, private and not-for-profit sectors, she got involved with live underwater broadcasting productions, facilitated film workshop with youth in the Arctic, took part in scientific and educational expeditions to both poles, collected aerial imagery by helicopter for the coastal mapping program ShoreZone.Org and studied deep-sea ecosystems using remotely operated vehicles and sonar. Since 2013, she’s been running Fish Eye Project with Mike Irvine, a not-for-profit connecting people with the ocean using Live Dives to create the new generation of ocean stewards. A successful proof of concept brought this live underwater interactive experience to Giant Screen theatres in 2016. Recently, they co-founded the brand Live It, whose mission is to drive exploration and discovery by offering consistent live shows from remote environments and partnering with local organizations in various spectacular environments.

MAÉVA GAUTHIER, CO-FONDATRICE & DIRECTRICE GÉNÉRALE  

En tant qu’écologiste de la vie marine et vidéaste, Maéva aime connecter les gens aux océans, en utilisant les outils du film et de l’éducation. Maéva était récemment à l'émission Ils font le Canada (16min) sur Radio-Canada pour souligner son côté innovateur et d'actrice de changement avec l'équipe Fish Eye. Elle a récemment complété un certificat en éducation et communication environnementale à l'Université de Royal Roads (2015). Elle a également complété une maîtrise en écologie marine (Univ. De Victoria, 2012) et un baccalauréat en biologie (Univ. du Québec à Montréal, 2007). Fish Eye Project est un amalgame de sa passion pour les milieux marins mêlé la sensibilisation à l’océan. Elle a co-fondé Fish Eye Project en 2013 avec Mike Irvine, passionné de technologie et d’innovation. La mission de Fish Eye Project est de connecter les gens à l’océan de façon innovante, interactive et éducative à l’aide de plongées en direct. En tant que directrice du projet FrancOcéan Pacifique, elle organise et supervise le projet pour réaliser une expérience mémorable pour tous! Elle a également une passion pour l’Arctique depuis son séjour en 2009 sur l’Amundsen pour étudier les écosystèmes marins. Elle a très hâte de s’y retrouver pour partager cette passion pour le Nord avec leur plongée en direct la plus éloignée jusqu’à maintenant.
